September 2009 – Job of the Month

It was our pleasure working with the Boys & Girls Club of Lansing recently.  The desire of the Club to combine a new Sustainable Roofing System along with an educational experience for its students was a perfect fit for Superior Services R.S.H., Inc.

Superior Services first proposed the “Duro-Last” Roof System, a high performance Energy Star Rated “Cool Roof”.  Duro-Last’s highly reflective white surface dramatically reduces the heat island effect, thus reducing energy costs.  In addition, at the end of its useful service life the Duro-Last roofing membrane can be recycled into a variety of other useful products, reducing waste and landfill space.

Prior to starting the project, Superior Services,  in conjunction with Duro-Last Roofing, Inc. Headquartered in Saginaw, Michigan, arranged for the students to tour the plant and observe the manufacturing and testing of the Duro-Last roofing materials.  In addition, Mr. Bradke from Superior Services provided a “Show and Tell” for the students during the reroofing project, providing daily progress photos of the roof replacement along the way.

As an added bonus, Superior Services donated three new skylights to provide natural lighting to three interior areas that otherwise required the use of electrical lighting.  The whole experience was rewarding for all of those involved.  Keep up the good work kids!
